South County Baptist Church will accomplish its mission by fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus to His Church (Matthew 28:19-20), identifying believers through evangelism and developing leaders for local church ministry. We are driven by Truth and Relationships. Truth discovered from Holy Scripture and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ enables believers to live successful Christian lives.

Vision:

Short term:

Assemble a congregation of baptized believers who are assimilated into small groups and committed to our long term vision.

Long term:

Our vision is to establish a thriving Independent Baptist congregation dependant on God and zealous to win souls to Christ.

History:

The inspiration for South County Baptist Church stems from a conviction that New Testament Churches are responsible for leadership training and the initiating of new churches. Under the leadership of Dr. Lester Hutson, Berean Baptist Church of Houston Texas has committed itself to these goals.

Jerry Booth grew up at Berean, he has served in nearly every aspect of it’s ministry. Since 1997, Jerry has served on the staff of Berean as Outreach and Education Pastor. As early as the summer of 2001, the seeds of South County Baptist Church began to grow. It soon became clear that God was calling Jerry and his family to begin this new church.

Jerry Booth is sent by Berean Baptist Church of Houston, Texas as their missionary to establish an Independent Baptist Church in Southern Montgomery County, Texas. The South County Baptist Mission began holding services in September 2003 while waiting and looking for God to provide more permanent location. God opened that door in late 2004 with 3000 square feet of rental space where the mission could grow and build identity in the community.

South County Baptist Church formally organized as an independent church June 1, 2008.

The fundamental building blocks of any New Testament church are contained in the Great Commission Jesus gave His first church in Matthew 28:19-20. As we understand the scriptures, believers are responsible to share the gospel message of Jesus Christ with those around them and then train and support each other through the local church body. Everything we do as a local church body starts with this mandate from our Savior.

Statement of Faith

This Church believes the Bible to be the divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God and accepts the Bible to be its final authority on all matters, including those relating to the faith and practice of both the Church and the members as individuals. This Church believes in the literal Genesis account of creation, a universal flood, the triune God, the deity of Jesus Christ, a literal and burning Hell, salvation exclusively by grace through faith apart from works, the eternal security of the believer, the priesthood of every believer, love as the motive for all true worship and service, holiness and godly separation by all believers, baptism by immersion of believers only, the local and visible Church, closed communion, and the literal and premillennial second-coming of Jesus Christ. This Church rejects evolution, secular humanism, all forms of salvation from sin's penalty by works, the Charismatic movement, and all forms of universal Church theology. To the extent they are covered therein, this Church embraces the interpretations of Scripture as set forth in Volume I and Volume II of "What We Believe And Why" written by Lester Hutson.
